Day -6

Today was a pretty great day. After my morning shot from Dr. Lesly, I met up with Chris and Anji on the rooftop terrace for some fresh air. Chris decided today was his day to shave his hair so we all waited for another patient Stacey and her carer Vicki to come up and do the honors. Vicki works at a barber shop in England so she brought her clippers for all of us patients. So far 2 out of the 5 of us have shaved their heads in preparation. Stacey and I are the only girls and we are both waiting until our hair starts falling out on its own before we take the leap into the bald club.

That was our excitement for the day. The rest of the day Gaby and I binge watched 9 episodes of Grace and Frankie on Netflix which made the day fly by. Great show, by the way!

Tomorrow morning a doctor is coming in to take some blood samples and then Wednesday is the big day when we get our picc lines placed. I’m trying to psych myself up for that because the thought of tubes poking out of my neck and flopping around seems so gross and uncomfortable. Yuck. But I’ll do whatever I have to do! Plus I noticed that the doctor doing it is named Jesus, so again, I’m in good hands 🙂

Until tomorrow, adiós!

  1. Rod had a pic line in his chest for several weeks. He found it way more comfortable than continually get shots until his leg was like hamburger and swollen. It won’t be bad at all. My best friends hair fell out from chemo. All except 6 strands that her daughter cut off. Her hair grew back beautifully. All I am trying to get at is that it will be ok. I know, easy for me to say but I really believe it.

  2. I love Grace and Frankie! I binge watched it when I was in NC earlier this year. Although I will admit that I was a little shocked at the context! I shaved my head when my hair started coming out from chemo. Make sure you have a soft warm cap to wear at night. If you don’t have one let me know and I will send you one. My head was always cold. I didn’t mind being bald…saved a lot on shampoo! You got this!!

  3. I’m so glad that we have you and Stacey and Vicky here with us! I’m sure all three of you will handle the PICC just fine. Hugs friend.
