Hi friends! I’m happy to report that another year has gone by with no big symptom changes and continued stable MRI scans that showed no disease activity! I’ve remained in complete remission without the need of any MS medications or therapies. This treatment has been a miracle for me!
This year has thrown so many curveballs that come with aging parents (and pets) that has made keeping stress, depression, and anxiety levels under control…impossibly hard. I was told in Mexico that my best bet at staying free of progression is to stay healthy and stress free. I remember thinking that was going to be easy and manageable at the time. Silly me.
I’m a little undecided if I want to do my yearly MRI scans again because most people I’ve talked to who had HSCT don’t bother with them anymore and not to mention, thanks to the American healthcare system, my last set of scans cost us $10,000…that’s with health insurance. Something has to change, can I get an amen?! But then again, the peace of mind that I get when the radiologist report pops up in my patient portal saying that the scans are unremarkable and unchanged from previous ones feels pretty good.
This will be a year of taking things one day at a time and focusing on the next right thing.
Until next year, adios!
